Baby Martin 2.0 April 4, 2011

4/13/11 Morning update – Well, everyone is doing well and it looks like we will be heading home this morning.  Rylan had his little boy surgery this morning and is doing well and Momma is doing well also.  Rylan has lost a little weight but everyone is saying that it is not that significant.  They are going to re-do his hearing test this morning because the right ear did not test well the other morning.  They don’t expect any issues with the right ear but just needing another test.  Well, I am off to pack up and get the ready to go home.

4/12/11 Morning update –  Rylan has been out of the oxygen tent since 8:00 p.m. last night and is currently working on his third meal.  He is doing very and has lost three ounces and in the words of the pedi, “he has a lot of reserve so this isn’t a problem.” Hopefully I can edit some pictures together and to see the resemblance between Brinson and Rylan.  They have many of the same features as a new born.  Well, I am off to chill out with family and visitors.

Final update of the day –  Well, Rylan Woodrow Martin was born today at 2:29 p.m. weighing 9lbs 5 oz. and 22.5 inches.  I can not confirm but he might already have facial hair (full grown boy).  Our nurse introduced everyone to him as the toddler she delivered.  Hopefully I can knock out some computer work tomorrow and have some pictures up on the blog.  I have been tweeting and facebooking pictures this evening.  He was put in an oxygen tent this afternoon but he has already been weaned to room oxygen this evening.  He will have his first feeding session tomorrow morning around 1 a.m.

Brinson did well but because of the oxygen tent he didn’t get to spend a whole lot of time with his baby brother.  Pray for Brinson because he is getting some allergy issues and a little snotty.  He was very excited and caught on to the name pretty quickly.

Momma is feeling well and I am currently witnessing her walking for the first time since this morning.  I am very proud of my beautiful wife.  As our friend told me after seeing Ashley, “she doesn’t even look like she delivered a 9 pound baby.” I appreciate all the texts, messages, or comments. Blessings this evening.

6th – Wife is asleep but before she fell  asleep she recommended Darius Rucker’s new album.  Everything so far is going smoothly and where we would hope it to be.

5th update –  Well, the epidural is in and she is doing very well.  We believe the epidural worked the first time compared to the first one failing with the birth of Brinson.  Ashley still says I have a grade of an “A”, which is a good sign. I hope your day is going as well as ours is.  Blessings.

4th – Well, the medicine is in and she is doing well.  Ashley give me a grade of an “A” so far.  We will see if I can keep the grade at that level.  She also just gave some inside information, which is “my rib cage is in the way”.  Well, we will give more information later.  Blessings.

3rd update – Medicine has been started and we are just watching some t.v.  I want the ice chip machine in the nourishment room and I have already embarrassed myself.  So, what else is new?

2nd – We are at the hospital and answered 21 + questions.  I.V. is in but the medicine has not been started.  I know you are wondering and yes Ashley is beautiful as always.

1st update –  My plan worked… I called ahead of the time the doctor told me to and got in a half an hour earlier than they said we would. Winning! We are scheduled to show up at the hospital at 5:30 a.m.  We both clocked in around 4ish light hours of sleep.  Hope to be one of many updates.  Blessings…

This is the live blog for baby Martin 2.0.  I don’t know how much I will be able to update but I will try my best.  I hope you enjoy the entrance of life as much as we will.  Blessings…
